Default NCD allowable on one policy only?

I didnt realise this. Apparently 9well with eBike Insurance, you cant use NCD from another bike policy.
It asks
''Please provide details of the previous policy from which you are seeking to move your No Claims Discount''
Is this a ploy to try and get you to ensure multibikes just with them?

Standard practice this. NCD can only be used toward 1 policy, unless of course you have earned NCD on other policies.

Whats the best thing to do here then?
I have renewal on main bike 3 weeks after getting second bike. I probably want to put them on one policy. I guess I could cancel main bike policy for sake of £20 or so and start both fresh, or is there any way can sort this out easier?

If you cancel the main bike one then surely you'll loose that year's NCB?

Can you not just insure the Beta for a month? One of those horrendously expensive pay monthly policies and only use a month?

Or simply not insure the Beta for three weeks... or insure it separately then cancel the policy within your statutory 14 day 'cool off' period... though this may incurr a charge it still might be cheaper than a pay-by-month policy.
The do it again for a week or leave it uninsured for a week.

Obviously I'm only advocating the keeping of the Beta in solitary confinement within a locked, bolted, guarded and mined garage while uninsured.

That said - when I phoned Direct choice after buying the Blade (I had about 6 weeks to go on the SV's insurance) they said they would insure the Blade on a multibike policy even though it was a single bike, and give me a discount equivalent to the 2 years NCB I would have from the SV (in 6 weeks time), and then let me add the SV to the policy once its current one had expired.

They did say that if I had to make a claim/had an accident within the 6 weeks they would place an additional loading on the Blade's policy to reflect the lost NCB etc - but they were just so accomodating that I've been with them ever since.

Oh yes, I mustn't cancel the insurance you are right.

The main pain is I suspect my current insurer wont be the cheapest *good* option. But I will call them and see what they say.

Can you just cancel after a month on ebike monthly for example, or is there some kind of penalty? Confuses me.

Dunno about eBike, never used 'em - this is one reason why I like Direct Choice - I can phone them and ask all my questions and they give me clear answers without me having to wade through a load of small print.

It's probably on the website somewhere... but good luck in finding it.

Yes, I am avoiding eBike. I have heard very good and very bad, and after all you sometimes get what you pay for.

Rich why dont you just add the trail bike to your GS Policy for the few weeks it has left to run then start again afresh with a new policy when your current one runs out. Surely thats the simplest thing to do, OK might not be the cheapest...

Thats what I did when I got my GSXR, I put it on the same policy as my SV and then when it expired I switched insurance companies.

Ebike do a pay as you go policy, so you can pay monthly, I dont know how expensive it is though.

I'm insured with ebike, never had a problem with them.

And sometimes you get stuff for free - just got a quote from them for the Varadero and have since been getting junk email for just about every single thing they can insure.

Spam filter dumps it all thankfully.
