Default The nod

When I started riding a couple years ago, I was introduced to "the nod"... a way of saying to another biker "hello" as you pass in the opposite direction.

Now, since I've started using my SV, the nods dont happen anymore

I dont know whether its because I'm riding a nuddy or whether its just because its an SV...

Anybody know?

Depends on where you ride, time of year, how busy the other rider is, how good a day they're having...

Summer rides round country roads? Nods a plenty.

London: Nowt!

On local roads in the Peak District, even in the centre of Sheffield, its 'nods a plenty'

The only bikers who never seem to nod are usually on cruisers, particularly of the Milwaukee persuation

Keep nodding to support the biking ethos

Cheers

You'd perhaps have thought that gives them even more of a reason to nod the "young damsel" on-board

Personally, I find it changes from one day to the next ... sometimes I get nods and/or waves of the hand (if I'm overtaking them), and then somedays I guess either I don't see them, or they don't see me (usually this happens mid bend when both riders are probably concentrating on lines, throttle-control, exit-points, and whether is enough grip in their tyres ... so you can kinda forgive people for not wanting to extend a courteous nod at that point )

Best/worst day was riding back up from London ... on the day following the bulldog bash ... OMG ... HOW MANY BIKES??? I gave up nodding in the end cos I felt like one of those nodding Churchill dogs ... I must have passed hundreds of bikes that morning, and tried to nod at as many as possible, but my neck was starting to ache!!

Been out today around Stratford Upon Avon, nods a plenty and my neck is hurting cause of it!!! The only ones who didn't nod were those on the big choppers, but they never seem to.

You won't get a nod from a H*rley rider, they're all too cool for that, plus they're too busy looking for Sarah Connor

I still nod over here in Italy but the general thing over here is a wave even when cornering etc.... . I worked out it is because driving on the right you can wave the hand nearest the other rider without letting go of the throttle.
