heya guys. been down to my bike shop to day to get a faring after my lil acci. when me an the guy there was going through the paint codes etc we was looking for a 2001 colour. after looking my bike up on their system a i got it from there it was refered as a sv650sy? ? ? ?. my question is, is the sy the same as the k mark? he said suzuki didnt go to the k till 2000 so surly my should be a k1 or some thing? sorry if im not clear, i think my bike is actually older than 2001 but wasnt register till then, so what year is sy? many thanks scott.

ok not where i saw it but just as useful.
go to he main site, click "FAQ's and how to's" then at the bottom of the questions that should be right in front of you it says "what are the differences in the models over the years" click that and scroll down. |

I got told by the dealer that mine was Candy Jay blue and bought a panel but it turned out to be the darker of the two candy blues.
Also mine is a '99 and registered on a T plate however is a SY instead of a SX which seems quite odd. I don't know exactly when they change the models but I presume that there must be quite a large overlap period for late registered and early registered etc. I wouldn't take what the dealer says for the paint code as gospel though as I gave them my frame number and they got it wrong. If you lift the tank there should be a small white sticker with the paint code on there. HTH |

worked it out that mine must have be a y model, or 2000 but not brought till 2001. i did this with my rs. it was a 2005 but i didnt register it till 2006. not sure what the over lap is with the the model and year. scott |

All you need to know for the blue paint colour is if it's jay blue or candy blue.
I'm sure Mr Suzuki didn't stop painting his bikes Jay blue and start with Candy blue on the 1st of January 2000. Remember the bikes are fairly old and people change the colour anyway. My logbog says yellow, but it's a blue bike now. Also just because the logbook says a year, that is not the model designation, just the year of registration. The bike could have been old stock. There are some curvys around on 03 plates I know. |
