Default Driving Licence address change

Looking for some help trying to fathom the proceedure for updating from paper driving licence to photo card when changing address.... is it free, for the address change or do I need to stump up a tenner to get the photocard??
Must be loads of people out there who have done this.....

Thanks,
RR

Its free to change and address and I'm pretty sure it just gets upgraded in these circumstances.

One thing is for sure, make sure you photocopy your entitlements before you send it off. Its well known that the DVLA have a habit of sending your licence back without the with the bike or car entitlement on if you have both.

I did it six months ago. All I had was a 1980's green license.
Filled in the website, they used my passport photo, new photo license arrived a week later, no charge.
You have to promise to return the old license - which I did, after all was received and checked.

DVLA web site came back online today... I've changed my address and swapped to the 2 part/photo licence FOC!

The online version generates an application form with all the required info, in my case I still needed to provide a picture and sign in the box, despite having the digital passport from which my details could be lifted.
