Default Pointy Verses Curvy - on the dyno

What a difference (see comparison dyno found on net; below)!!!

So apart from them being FI and having slightly different profile cams, what makes the HP/Torque in the pointy? Or is that it?

Now I know why I got murdered on power against pointys!!

Pointys rule!!

How accurate is that dyno print out supposed to be? Yes I know I own two Curvys but the 650 has never struggled to keep up with Pointys!

This is possibly more relevant. Both done on the same dyno.

Law's Pointy.

Our Curvy

Cheers, but to make sure we are comparing like for like, what mods have been done to both bikes? Or are they both bog-stock (I presume as it was for a bike mag, the one I posted they were both stock to keep things fair?!).

Mine does

I was specifically talking about on the track .. my track bike even struggled against pointy road bikes ... now I know why!!

But what makes the power?!?!? ... what has Mr Suzi done to the pointys??

I would never assume anything any bike mag did was fair

Ours has a dyno jet kit and stubby, Laws has a power commander and Yoshi............only difference is ours has Akra downpipes. Both have after-market air filters too I believe. I think that's as close as you can get comparison-wise with Curvy and Pointy.

Shouldn't do, maybe they are more tuned than yours???

As Lissa's dyno run shows (thanks Lissa) the bikes are evenly matched from standard to light tuning, its the same engine!!! I have stuck my head into many SV engines and fiddled about with them, your not gonna get more power from one because it has fuel injection as its main difference. Only a Pointy owner will say differently!

Ah, so Lissa and Laws were not like for like, the two bikes have different exhausts (the AKRA downpipes are prolly worth 2+hp?) also the humidity is/was different ... but then they were done 7 months apart, so totally different times of the year also one in the morning one in the early evening/late afternoon!!

Ambient temp and humidity pressure etc make a considerable difference to dyno readouts ... you really need a back-to-back test on the same day with stock bikes, else the results are highly de-valued. An indication that one can extrapolate from is all they can be.

Bearing in mind it has a race system, the curvy is still weaker too ...

Agreed we don't know if they were back to back tests in the dyno printout I posted.
