Default sv1000 backfiring

Hi guys long time no see ,hope your all well
anyway reason im here is as above really

Long story shortened a friend asked me to go around to his house and check out an sv running not quite like God intended.

So i pops around and its a 1000 hmm well similar ish nice thing w plate in black and in very nice not watered condition

Eventually get it running not nice though, backfiring like a Muppet on Ginseng, and to make matter worse its not my friends bike either so i know no history at all .

So Plug change , Now it starts and even runs and ticks over however its still backfiring

On dismantling various bit and bobs i can confirm it has a K&N filter and race cans.
"starts to make sense"

Then the guy turns up as i was checking things and apparently he stored the bike for two years then through brill idea put cans on it and as i can gather now he has done this it wont run correctly " seem to think he has not been out on it since he *unstored* it "

Heres the ten million dollar question does this thing need a remap to counter the injection to compensate for more air flow in and more airflow out of the Lump ??

If so where local to mansfield or notts?

Any ideas on cost ?

Failing that any other quick checks ??

cant see it needing a remap mine has a set of shortened race cans on it and it runs sweet, plus the sv1000 has a lambda sensor in the exhaust to adjust the air/fuel ratio automaticaly. Probably bad fuel be a good idea to drain the tank off, put some shell v power in and some injector cleaner and give it a good run that should sort it. Bikes dont take kindly to stale petrol being left in for ages. If ive left my bike over winter i always treat it to the above to clean the fuel system out.

It's a TL 1000. Try asking at http://www.tlplanet.com/ also.
