C1 Motoczysz motogp bike

Last night DISCOVERY CHANNEL showed a documentary about the C1 Motoczysz motogp bike.
Don't know if you've ever heard of this project but it's a single man's dream who with his help of his father built his own bike. This he started in his own garage using simple equipment and tools but later hired professionals to build up a super racer with the intention of finally taking on the big boys, HONDA, YAMAHA, DUCATI, SUZUKI in motogp. Hope they do manage to end up competitively racing it. Its a great looking bike.

What class did this race in? Not MotoGP...

How the hell do you pronounce it, is what I'd like to know.

A motogp bike needs to compete in motogp to be a motogp bike

This hasnt been in motogp yet....

I remain sceptical until I see it race established fast bikes (MotoGP or superbikes). Also, isnt the inline four engine arranged so the cylinders are front to back, not side to side?

These guys are working hard to get it to a fighting chance so credit should be shown lads. Aren't we all tired of seeing the same brands at the paddock? They've recently broken the 220BHP barrier so things are looking up. Check out their site for more information. Jeremy McWilliams rode it, loved it and raved on its handling. Yes the engine is also a strange beast, its got twin cranks that revolve one against the other to neutralise vibration and gyroscopic forces.

Jeremy McWilliams easily the most experienced test rider in the industry rode the MotoCzysz 07 C1-990 for the first time in a private test at the Miller Motorsports Park in Tooele, UT June 20, 2007. McWilliams, whose test and development experience includes the Aprilia cube MotoGP bike, both KR 3 cylinder 2-stroke and 5 cylinder 4-stroke machines, BMW's 990 and 800 MotoGP prototypes, the Buell XB9RR and the Ilmor 800 MotoGP machine.
Jeremy told a journalist after his ride that the C1 was "the best turning bike ever".
MotoCzysz has become increasingly confident that Czysz's theories were actually resulting in a better turning motorcycle.
"We can now consider the design the frozen for the first model and focus entirely on finial engine development and prepare the bike for production. Listening to Jeremy talk about how easy it was to turn or transition our bike in comparison with everything he has ridden was simply one of the best things I have ever heard" said Michael Czysz.
Jeremy went on to say;
"I thoroughly enjoyed my outing on MC's prototype, firstly I was surprised at how nimble the bike turned, steered and changed direction. My feeling was that this Motorcycle easily took the least amount of effort for a bike of this capacity to fire it into a turn, to steer into the apex of that turn needed little effort. It really came into its own when I was pushing through the Chicane at Miller, in this type of turn the MotoCzysz changes direction with minimal input and I always found that I had room to push harder."
"It was refreshing to work with such enthusiastic designers and the future has to be good for one of the best looking sport bikes I've had the pleasure to test..."

I saw that documentary too, it was fascinating. Kudos to that guy, he's really putting his all into this - it would be great to see some different competition.

Interesting about the gyroscopic effect too, that is a great idea.

I know the prototype ran a cut up and rearranged production (GSXR I think) engine and thats not aloud in MotoGP now, it must all be prototype in the engine department! Any one know if this version is running a completely scratch built engine?

The it must all be prototype rule came in the year after the WCM got banded briefly for having R1 casings!

I think you're a bit confused DD. What they did do is fit an R1 with their own innovative front suspenssion which uses only one shock and spring set between the fork legs, so they could test the system out before fitting it to the actual bike. At the time their engine was still in the making. The system worked and ended up fitted to the actual bike.

I dont mean to try and put out the fire but most of the bikes jeremy have riden havnt been competative. Aprilia cube MotoGP bike failed misurably , both KR 3 cylinder 2-stroke Good but still no where near modern and 5 cylinder 4-stroke machines Erm..., BMW's 990 and 800 They are hard to comment on but the fact they arnt racing must mean something MotoGP prototypes, the Buell XB9RR Hmmm another one which is hard to comment on, it hasnt done well in races but that might be down to the engine and the Ilmor 800 No need to comment. So all in you cant really tell till it hits the motogp Padock. But all the luck to the fella's. Even if they are yanks
