Default Speedo Carked It!

So I changed my spark plugs the other day (what a pain that is!) and now my speedo doesn't work at all.

I was fiddling around with the radiator and the horn and possible some other cables or wires so I presumably must have knocked something loose.

Anyone have a similar experience / know how to fix this?

Cheers guys and gals

They start with the plugs, then build the rest of the bike round them!

I made a goof with my bike the other day, knocked off one of the earth wires which killed my speedo and rev counter, it was the one attached to the frame cross member I think.

[Amended my typo]

This might be usefull; I've nticed that the gearing on my SV is such that in fourth gear, at 4000 rpm im doing 40mph; 5000 rpm im doing 50mph, etc etc

So if you want to ride, and your worried about your speed (camera's etc) use that as a guide

3500 rpm in third is under 30mph

Thanks alpinestar, but I'm in australia and don't want to have to convert to kms all the time And I'd like my speedo to work lol.

I've checked and it seems my wires are earthed.

Is the speedo cable NEAR the plug area, ie. is it something I've bumped?

Cheers

trace it up from the front wheel, I presume its the same type as on the pointy. The lead runs from the left hand side of the front wheel hub to a plug

If memory serves, the wiring plug for the speedo is somewhere behind the headstock, a white three pin connector (one of the wires is pink).

Of course I could be wrong, but that seems to ring a bell, you may have pulled the plug out whilst playing with the rad/front plug.

Cheers Mark.

+1

It's black 3core cable that leads in to a white connector, orange, pink and a black/white IIRC

Usually lives behind the headstock
