Hi,
I left the lights on 'park' by mistake, now I'm stuck at work with a flat battery. Can I jump start the bike from a car? My mate says I'll fry something or other if I try Tried bump starting it, no joy. Can't push it fast enough to get the engine turning over when I let the clutch out help? |

Providing you get the leads the right way round, yes you can jump start from a car as they're both 12v systems.

You can connect the negative t the frame of the bike, the positive i beleive can be clipped to something under the seat but i was un successful in this and held it on the battery!

I touched em both by mistake and blew the 30amp fuse there. make sure you check that one too, there should be a spare there if you need it. I didnt realise that mine had blown till about 4 hrs after i attached my optimate and nothing, i mean nothing, was working. Doh!

Connect the negative jump lead to the chrome engine bolt head on the right hand side of the frame, take of the right side panel, lift up the green translucent cover over the terminals of the starter solenoid, (where the main fuse is), and connect the live jump lead to the left hand terminal, start as normal.
Doing it this way means you don't have to remove both side panels and the seat - four bolts - only one bolt for one side panel, easy.
