Question DIY question...what do you call...

...the plastic plug/lug things that you sink into a drilled hole in a concrete floor when you add the final stage of a laminate floor - i.e the trim that seperates the two different floor types at a doorway?

I've had to remove a trim (laid a new slate floor), and now need to find some more of these plastic buggers to to put it back down as the old ones are firmly stuck.

Rather than look like a nugget in a flooring shop, I'd rather do that here.

Thanks.

Actually, the more I think about this the more I'm convinced there isnt a name for them, and I have no choice but to look like a nugget anyway.

Nah, its like a rawlplug in that it goes into the solid floor, but the head of it is square (and not hollow), about 3mm thick block which slots into a groove on the underside of the door trim thing.

You're screwed, they're part of the kit, they usually come in short and tall sizes, red and blue. You'll prob have to buy another door trim kit to get them, if you look in the trash bin at your diy store you might find a mangled one you can buy cheap to get the bits. You could also stick it in with a load of no nails or silicone?

Gah Bugger.

I have considered the No More Nails approach, but the gap is more like needing some "Massive Crack Filler" - or whatever its called, its more like a gorge than a gap.

I could fill it with a length of thin ply and then fill it up with adhesive though. I'm into Bodgett & Scarper territory now I think

Had a similar problem, the proper gizmo's arn't that good anyway. Drilled nice deep holes, fat rawplugs bonded in with no more nails did the trick
