Ok so just about to buy a visor...and i'm thinking...should i get medium tint or dark tint? Is there a massive difference? I will carry my clear visor all the time...
I wear glasses...would wear sunglasses under the lid but cant afford the prescription pair, so tinted visor is perfect for me. Plus going away to europe this summer so need some sun protection. Any thoughts and tips would be fantastic ![]() |

I'd imagine a mid tint will be better when you go in to low light situations (forests, early/late in the day, the odd cloud). Got a mild tint myself, E marked and have never tried a dark tint, so not really speaking from experience.

yeah i was thinking if it suddenly turned a bit dark or shaded then maybe a dark tint would be too much...may stick with a medium tint. Never used one, had a clear visor for years...low winter sun kills my eyes

I always go for (Arai) dark tint. Even sometimes that is not dark enough on sunny mornings and I still end up squinting. Never had an issue on low light levels (cloudy, forest areas), if it gets late just swap out for clear visor.

I got a medium tint as a compromise too, it's been fine. Normally if it's bright enough to overcome the medium tint, it'd be bright enough to overcome the dark tint too, I think. The medium tint is quite usable in low-light situations which is good

+1 Arai dark tint. I sometimes forget I have it on, and then think, why is it getting so dark - are my heqadlights not working? Ah no, that would be my dark visor, Duuuh. It is fine in cloudy conditions though, and much better than sun glasses.

Dark tint. I've got both a medium Iridium and dark solid and the dark is far more effective in bright sunlight.
Oh, perhaps a medium after all then. ![]() |

+1 for dark tint. Does what it's supposed to and looks feckin' cool
![]() I ended up staying out later than I was intending yesterday and had to ride home in the dark with my dark visor on, down roads with no streetlights I flipped it up but when I got to main roads and down the motorway I just closed and and I could see perfectly fine. Have a look through one, you'll be surprised how much lighter they actually are from the inside. Wouldn't have liked to have been stopped mind! ![]() Cheers, Matt |
