... a disc lock.
My GSX has a very small under-seat storage area and cannot accommodate the six arm lock I always carried when out on the SV. So I need something smaller. With Chrimbo just around the corner this will be on my list to santa. But which one? With alarm or not? Experiences and recommendations please mighty Org.

I've got one of these:
Datatool devil disc lock I'm not that fussed on it, the key can be quite stiff & I'm not convinced both lock bolt bits lock properly but then I very rarely use it as my bikes usually in the shed, at work or has me sitting on top of it. Last edited by HoL; 09-11-11 at 12:27 PM. |

I am using the excellant Xena XN14 Alarmed Disc Lock. Its tough as nails and has kept my bike secure for over 3 years ![]()

dont buy one from Lidl when they have the bike stuff in, had to cut mine off with a small disc cutter when the lock buggered. Thankfully the bike was at home at the time.

Bought a Oxford Mega from (I will spare the dealer's blushes) for my son's new CBR 125 R for £40 last Saturday when it had its first service.
No way would it fit.* Took it back today and got an even stronger Oxford one, it was an extra fiver but to be fair they waived that. Guaranteed to fit - and the harder it is for you to put onthe harder it is for some scally to get off they said. Wise words indeed. Didn't fit! Ended up with a refund and an Oxford Micro which does fit. And on reflection 2 blokes with a transit could pick the bike up and be away in 30 seconds. I think there is a YouTube of exactly that for a far heavier bike. So personally, save your money get something cheapish in a vile shade of yellow so it can be spotted. |

I've got an Oxford Boss. There's some good bits and some not so good.
+ve: easy to fit +ve: big enough to take a steel cable to secure the bike to something solid +ve: reasonably priced -ve: The alarm model is just waay to sensitive and takes hearing aid batteries which go flat in a couple of days. -ve: it's just an oversized padlock which could be cut with bolt croppers -ve: can collect rainwater I use mine to secure the bike when I'm away from home, but in it's regular parking spot I use an Almax chain and high security lock. |

Disc locks, what can I say.
Oh yes, if lucky, they smash your front fender nicely otherwise over you go looking like a right plank. So get a reminder.
