Default New lid- and ride today -and numberplate nickage?

I had a really good ride both to and from work today - went regular way, 20 miles in 25 minutes which normally takes me about 45- I left at about 7:30 so the roads were beautifully quiet. On the way back I took the seriously scenic route- 40 miles on the way home, through a whole lot of amazing bends, easily the best road in my area.

When I got back, I thought it was time to buy a new lid (replacing Caberg V2), so I went for a matt black Shoei Raid II, and the difference is frankly amazing. I never thought a helmet would be quite as comfortable and quiet as this, I can't get across quite how stunned I am.

Oh! Also, my numberplate disappeared, may have been stolen, may have fallen off. Anyone else have experience of this? Called the police and reported it either way.

Yep. Pulled over in Southampton after a run down the M3 with one of those "Hmm, the motorway is empty... Wonder how fast the bike can do?" moments (Turned out to be 70MPH on the dot occifer...)

Policeman: "Excuse me sir, could I ask where your number plate is?"
Me: "Best guess? Somewhere between Fleet and Winchester officer..."

Luckily they saw the funny side. The fact that I was 150yards from a number plate shop probably helped...

I lost a plate on a "spirited" ride back from my daughters up the A3 a while back. I stopped for a pasty and coffee at a garage and while eating and drinking I was looking at the bike thinking how odd it looked. Took me a while to figure it out that the plate was gone.
I can just imagine what the cage drivers were thinking as I weaved in and out at silly speeds with no plate.........
