ARGH!
I've got the correct socket (massive halfords pro thing) , but as the bolts are recessed into the cover, how do you get the bloody thing off? Am I missing something? I want to clean out the front sprocket area. Thanks! |

Just use an extension bar or deep socket of some kind, or both.

On our curvy, you just need a deep 8mm socket, preferably 1/4 inch drive. Would imagine it's the same for a pointy.

Thought you meant something was catching fire under there then...
![]() Yup... 1/4 drive 8mm socket with an extension

What concerns me slightly is that you have a tool to take off a fairly important bit of bike but can't work out how to remove a simple piece.
![]() You do not need to remove the sprocket to clean up the area anyway, and unless you have a large torque wrench and a block of wood I wouldn't recommend it. If you feel the need to remove the clutch actuator which is held on by two 10mm bolts IIRC, then beware as there are small ballbearings in the housing which can fall out. Have fun. ![]() |

Pete I think he's trying to remove the cover not the sprocket itself
![]() IF you've got a "massive halfords pro thing" then you won't remove it! You need a little, 1/4 inch drive 8mm socket, if youve got a bigger drive one then it won't get in there.

Job done
![]() Was using a different type of 8mm socket, was a bit thicker where it went into the extension bar. Was full of crap too! Thanks for your quick help. |

I don't think I was using the 1/4inch drive one
