Trip into unusual places in South Wales
Hello folks, some friends of mine have just had a baby and so another friend on my pillion and myself are heading over to see them this coming weekend.
However, with my being a bit useless and broken there is no way that I can do the trip in one go. If anyone can suggest any nice places to stop on the way, it would be appreciated. I am going from Weston Super Mud to Llanybri in South Wales and using Google maps it looks like it is going to be boring motorway and then some A roads, so nothing overly fun. Maybe not the best for a new pillion, but probably better than hundreds of miles of scary twisties! We will be there for a few days, so if there are also any places worth checking out, do please suggest them. Newborns are not really my thing (I prefer Lego), so jumping on the bike, may be a good escape after a few hours of coo cooing! Cheers folks |

Not sure about the trip there but have a look at Pendine sands ( Museum of speed- its on my list next time), Tenby was interesting and has a long beach, If you fancy a bit of mtb action brechfa is good fo a couple of hours ( its a lot of climbing and the signage is a bit awry)

Re: Trip into unusual places in South Wales
Jayne,
Take this route; https://goo.gl/maps/uWTUKHgSWBz It is a little bit longer, but, you get to see the lovely scenery of Wales as you go over the Heads of the Valleys road, also, going that way you can stop in Abergavenny, it is a big biker meet area, so, good areas to leave the bike and grab some drinks and make use of the facilities if you feel so inclined or you could visit Raglan Castle. You'll ride past where they are going to be building the new MotoGP contracted race track in Rassau, you could visit Cyfarthfa Castle in the area too. You can then pop into Penderyn for some Welsh Whisky, ride past the lakes at Cwmgwrach, visit Aberdulais Falls near Tonna, you can then make use of Pont Abraham services at the end of the M4 before your trip along the A48, which has the National Botanic Garden of Wales near Porthyrhyd on the way. Lastly there is Pembrey Race Track near by. Hope this gives a few pointers |

Re: Trip into unusual places in South Wales
Hello folks,
on the day I made the trip, the weather was horrible. As we passed Port Talbert the wind was so strong, I was leaning the bike over just to go in a straight line. When we got to our friends house, both me and my pillion were cold, wet and very tired. The journey home was even more dismal and the rain was pouring down before we even left. It did not stop raining until we got to Bristol, but by then we were wet even in our water proof gear. On the plus side, our friend's new baby was delightful and my pillion greatly enjoyed the trip despite the weather. When we go again, we will have to pop in for a cuppa. |
