Default Brake/clutch lever position?

Hi people

Just wondering, would it be possible to adjust the position of the handlebar levers so they're facing a bit more down towards the floor?

I reckon that with the levers facing more downwards, it would be easier for me to use them - atm riding with the first two fingers covering the front brake is a bit awkward.

Would doing this damage the cables or is it something thats easy to do?

Cheers!

It won't damage your cables, unless you have strangely jointed fingers.

Just loosen the two 10mm bolts (one on the clutch side) on the lever mount and gently push the lever down to the desired position. I believe the perceived wisdom is for there to be a straight line from your elbow to your fingertips as you're sat on the bike. Tighten up the 2 bolts carefully as they shear quite easily. Repeat for the other side.

I like my levers pointing downwards probably about 8oclk if the bar was the centre of the clock.

that would work for the clutch but would mean your break lever would be facing your knee!!

be careful with the brake lever- if it's too low it will rub the throttle adjusters and loosen them.

This happened to me- I was baffled for months as to why the slack on the throttle kept needing adjustment! Duh!

Yeap, just loosen the bolt clamping them to the bar and pivot them down. I have done this to both my SV's, no problems to report!

Indeed, the amount you can roll the brake leaver clamp round is limited by the throttle cables.

Finally got around to moving the levers!

However, I can only move the brake lever a few mm - the hydraulic hose from the lever is pushing against the fork leg. ATM the hose is cable tied to an electric wire.

Is it ok to have a hose pushed against the fork leg like this or is it placing too much strain on the hose which the Haynes manual says not to do, in which case I'll need to move the hose and re-cable tie it?

Cheers loads people!
