Well its in MCN. Depending on what its like/cost then I might be tempted... If there is going to be such a thing.

Would anyone else interested?

P.S. Did look for a link to the MCN news thing I read in this weeks MCN.

Oh good they've dusted off this one again....

MCN have been claiming a V5 Blade / VFR / Blackbird, since about oooh 2002....

My thoughts are that I'd be unlikely to buy a bike based purely on it having a V5 motor, especially as I've not ridden one. When someone lets me have a go I'll think about whether it works in that bike.

The main issue is cost. A V5 is much more expensive to produce than an IL4, so the only bike that might go that route without a massive hike in cost would be the VFR as it already has a V4 that costs plenty to make.

I do so love the VFR. I don't think the V5 is yet cost efficient enough to be in a road bike. I am happy to be proven wrong though.

+ 1, Honda like their tradition and history so I can not see the VFR800 become a V5 somehow, If anything it would be the replacement for the Blackbird. However I think it would be a complete new model to house the V5 so Honda can take more hype with the marketing by introducing a brand new motorcycle, only problem is with the forth coming revised VFR and Blackbird where would the V5 sit in the line up?

Besides, isn't VFR an acronym of V- FouR. Or something like that?

Thanks Jambo as I had no idea why anyone would be interested in a log book for a VFR

would still work VFiveR

It's in MCN, which means there's an artist's impression of 'what MCN think it will look like' and absolutely no verifiable facts about the motorcycle in question at all. Anyone remember their story in around 1998/99 about supercharged V-twins that were definitely coming from Honda? I do, because it was a big set-up to catch out plagiarising MCN hacks, and it worked.

Typical lazy 'journalism' - and I use that word in its loosest possible sense - from those who should know better by now.

So would this engine be 3 cylinders foreward and 2 aft ? or the other way around , Don`t see the point in it myself . V4`s are good engines , how can they make it better by adding another cylinder ? Lower revs and tractability then yes , other than that , marketing gimmick in reality ......... I remember them shouting from the rooftops about the NR750 with oval piston technology , went and joined the great unwashed at the NEC and oggled it and took pictures , that was the last time I ever saw such a bike in the flesh .

Aye. Well its a shame they didnt make the Oval piston cost effective. In theory the could make a monster V-twin that revs like an IL4. Crazy cool!

Maybe when im a million-air ill make my own oval piston Vee twin
