Default Urgent chain help

from my previous thread, the chain did turn out to be bent and the nice people at wemoto sent me a new one right away.

Im using the spring link, so i can take it to get rivitted. but I cant get the plate on! As far as I know it should just slide on easy.

this is it without the second plate on, looks normal, space for washers etc

and here it is with the plate put on, it wont go on further, leaving no space for the spring link and a gap behind it.

can someone please help me out, I really need to get it sorted today while the sun is out!

thank you

Good afternoon all.

Most chain side plates need pressing on, there's a special tool for this task. However a good substitute can be obtained by using a smallish G cramp, & a nut.
Make sure you press the plate on a little at a time via each pin, & that you don't press it on too tightly overall, & you should be ok.

Cheers.

I always use a pair of mole grips. Does the same job as a G clamp. Well at least in this context it does.
