My bike is in for a service soon with the dealer, and I asked if they would fit a scotoiler at the same time. As the bike is a k3 (fuel injected) they recomended the Lubtronic instead of the Scotoiler. Its cheaper and does the same job, electonically rather than using a vacuum pipe.
I had not heard of these, so does anyone have good or bad reports on these? http://www.motrax.co.uk/Maintenance/Lubetronic.html. |

Yes heard of these and seen a couple, the problem is they go at what ever speed you set them, regardless of road speed, where as the scottoiler slows down when the bike slows and speeds up when going a tad quicker,
I've used scottoilers for over 10 years now on both fuel injected and carbed bikes with no problem at all, I've had the same one on the last three bikes and will be changing it onto the fourth in March. I'll be sticking with what I know works, I'd suggest you do the same. Cheers Mark.

I've got a Scottoiler. So simple it's brilliant. No moving parts other than the vaccum valve to get the oile flowing when the engine's running.
Doesn't the lubeman have a pump-feed system? If so then it might be a bit more complicated and therefore more to go wrong. Lubemans are cheap, though. Scottoilers are tried amd tested by thousands of bikers and are the top seller for good reason. |

go for the scot oiler.
i think you will struggle to find a single biker with something bad to say about them. |

I was going to but a Lubetronic, because it works off of an electric pump instead of the vacuum system - But TBH, electric pumps sometimes fail - the vacuum system doesn't so I went Scottoiler
![]() Can't fault it - Great piece of kit ![]() I got mine from Busters with a twin feed pipe (what ever its called ![]() P.S. I've got a 'how to...' for fitting one to a K3 if you want it? It's about 5 Megs ![]() |

The Scottoiler is easy to fit to an SV of either variety, on the FI models there is a vacuum take off easily accessed between the 'V' of the engine. If you make a simple delivery plate modification, it's unobtrusive at the wheel and robust as well, putting the oil where it needs to go, not like when it's cable tied in place.
I've always had good results with Scottoilers, and I haven't had a chain drive bike without one for 15 or so years, unless someone comes up with something better, my future bikes will have them too. I don't doubt that the Lubetronic works very well, I fitted a couple and it's not dissimilar to fitting a Scottoiler, the obvious exception being an electrical connection rather than a vacuum connection. I prefer the Scottoiler as I simply think that a mechanical device, (an elegantly simple one at that), is likely to be more relaible in the unfriendly enviroment of being bolted to a motorcycle. The dual outlet pipe for the Scottoiler has no benefit, costs more and I think it's more trouble to fit. Iit's sole benefit is allowing Scottoiler to sell chain oilers to people who don't understand how they work and won't buy one because of the common misconception that they only oil one side of the chain. I've lost count of the times I've heard that and it's not the case at all.
