...I was fairly pleased with the quote from my existing insurer: £260 TPFT including class 1 business use, legal cover, european cover, etc. I was however, fairly annoyed to find what a minute difference having done IAM made, particularly when (if you believe IAM's stats/propoganda) you are more than 4 times less likely to have an "at fault" accident. I was pleasently surprised when getting a quote from IAM's approved insurer, Surety, to find I was not only covered for all the existing things, but also IAM observations (which I believe can be tricky to get and often has to be arranged seperately), for only £168. Even more startling was fully comp was now within my grasp (previously it had been best part of £1K, for a bike worth less than £2K, lol!) at only £332. Given the age/value of my bike, I think I'll still go TPFT as the FC doesn't include lid/leathers or private medical care, etc., but it's nice to know the option is there.
I'm 26, not great area, but not terrible either, bike is garaged, immobiliser and ground anchor. IAM, 6 points for speeding at over a ton, 4 years NCB, no at fault claims ever. Other IAM members, it's certainly worth getting a quote from them. |
