Default Insurance

Hello all,

I've stuck a deposit down on a new sv which I'm hopefully going to be picking up on 1st sept and wondered if anyone could recommend me some decent, more importantly cheap, insurance companies?

As I'm 19 the quotes I've been receiving so far are around £1200 for fully comp. This is slightly the wrong side of a grand for me so any suggestions will be much appreciated!

As this is my first bike any other suggestions for lowering the insurance would also be much appreciated, does a tracker lower it etc?

Cheers

it might, but the major risk in the policy is unfortunately you, so whatever you have it'll cost you. if it isn't garaged that'll bump it up too...

you could try an advanced riding qualification (RoSPA or IAM)

other than that there's not much you can do beyond phoning different insurers until someone gives you a good quote, insurers seem to change their prices regularly so someone who had a cheap quote last year probably won't be cheap for you

Could you take it down a notch to TPFT? If you're happy with that level of cover, you could probably shave a hundred quid or so off the price.

If you're not using it for work, that'll help a bit, too....

If its a new bike NEVER go less than fully comp and take out GAP insurance if its offered.

invest in some disc locks and chains to help reduce it, bump up your voluntry excesss. Things like that save a few pounds.

i've had third party fire & theft for all my bikes now.. they are all garaged and stuff so that knocks the price down quite nice.

Bikesure.co.uk normally have good quotes for the youth among us..
