Background to my problem...
Had a pretty nasty crash beginning of June, collected a tractor!! Spent two weeks in hospital, few broken bones (left femur, wrist and hand, metal implant in my femur, damaged knee ligaments)... still cant walk, still off work, but im here to tell the tale! In all honesty, bit of a shake up for me so giving bikes a wide birth for the forseable future so.... Im in two minds what to do with my bike. I got it back from the recovery company, checked it over last week. Its mostly cosmetic damage, fairings, screen, pegs, rear farings etc (will try get sum pics up). Forks, frame etc, dont seem bent. I had a quick scan on eBay and curvy SV650 parts seem to fetch reasonable money so do i, A) break it up and eBay the lot, ive got bits that were waiting to be fitted, undertray, seat cowl, (will get more ?'s this way?!) or B) sell as spares or repair? Thanks. |

Well, first see if anyone will take the bike as a possible project - plnty of people are into track days, and they might want an SV to fix up and use at the track.
But breaking for spares is no bad idea, and I can see how it could easily make you more money. As for being put off bikes, thats ok - bikes are dangerous. But don't feel like you dont have to not stick around here. Who knows, we might be able to tempt you back onto two wheels ![]() Good luck with your recovery, sounds like plenty of wounds to compare with other people's on here! GWS Matt |

Trouble with breaking it will be that what people want is likely to be the bits you have smashed,as they will be rebuilding a crashed bike too.You may well be left with large lumps no one wants.

You could post it on the org or visordown and see what anyone would offer for the bike as is, then decide whether you think it's worth selling as one big lump or several little pieces.
Get well soon, all being well it'll not be long before the doc's give you the OK to put some weight on the dodgy left leg and given time the pain will fade away. |

keep it rebuild it slowly when you find cheap bits. Then it'll be back together in a reasonable time and you can get bk on it or sell it as a ridable bike.
![]() give it a bit more time you may miss it when its gone. i kno i would.. |

I'd fix it up so it was back on the road and then sell it.
As has been said. If you break it, you'll likely to end up with a shed full of bits you can't sell. If you sell it as a non road worthy bike, you'll not get any where as much for it, as the buyer will be gambling as to how much it's going to cost them to get it road worthy. Good luck with your recovery. Been there myself. |

Yeah im abit unsure about breaking it now. Generally parts for S.V's seem to sell on here and on eBay but i dont want a shed full of left over parts!
Im inclined to put it on eBaay for spares or repair. Ill try get sum pics up. |

Don't break it for spares, I did that with my 1st SV about 4 years ago and i've still gotbits in boxes in my garage. It's definitely not worth it, my advice would be to sell it as a project
