Default Oh No! Low Speed Off - Couple of Questions

Morning all.

After 6 odd weeks and almost 4k I managed to come off the bugger going about 20mph on a small empty road when following my Dad!

Turned into road, go down road, use front brake, feels like not working very well, like when water on discs, but it was blue sky day and i'd just done 130 miles to get there. Pressed brakes again/harder I think and it locked and down I go.

Nobody else involved thankfully, just a stressed Dad who saw it all in his mirror. Called AA, guy came out, he reckoned the front discs looked too dull, they did look different to the rear disc which was shiny. He seemed to think there'd been oil on the discs? I'm not sure, I blame myself but am not sure why it didn't stop first.

Anyway, i'm fully comp so bike's getting taken to my dealer this morning to see what they think of the discs, and get a quote. Then i'll call the insurance. Does anybody know how they work as regards leather cover? I have that so presume all my stuff will be replaced? How do they go about that?

I recall being bloody annoyed as i slid however far and tried to not hit my head, but it just knocked the road, bugger! Rest of kit just scraped, couple holes in the stretch panels on the leathers, boot buggered.

As regards the bike, guy thinks forks bent, brake lever bent, rear lever gone, crash bung wore down, lower fairing just got a few marks anyway, upper by lights is scraped properly, exhaust obviously... quite a bit of stuff!

Anyway, advice experience of claiming all welcome. I'm hoping BikeSure are ok with me using Suzuki as apposed to their own choice. Soon find out anyway.

Bu99er! The main thing is that you are ok!

"Welcome" to the .org dented club!!

Oil on the discs sounds a bit dodgy Was it brake fluid?

Good luck with the claim and get back on asap!

Hello there, I came off in February with no one else involved. The claim was very quick and all was sorted by the insurance company.

I however had to pay for my kit to be replaced as fully comp does NOT cover clothing and accessories unless you took that option out on your insurance.

Hope you get it all sorted and glad to hear your ok.

Drew

Drew's right, comp doesn't cover kit. You might be able to claim on your household contents policy if it covers items away from the home. I found out the hard way so extended the contents cover.

Thanks for the kind words all Luckily I did specify leather cover when taking out the insurance, phew!

It's at Suzuki now, and I spoke to insurance people, will get a call monday to start it all off. I just want to get new stuff so I can get back riding soon!

Incidentally my RST stuff, didn't hole in any leather bits but I just noticed the jacket has gone through a seam or so on the right arm, which is interesting as I was going so slow. Not sure if i'll go with some other leather make next. Dunno!

Anyway yes, thanks for the concern, thumb feels a bit better now and I can just about pick up a pint so all is almost well! Dread to think what the insurance will be like next year though!

Hey,

Not sure what it was, but mentioned it to the Suzuki guy so maybe they'll find something.

hein gericke leathers are boss

I had an off at about 20mph turning left off a main road onto another main road, slid across the tarmac and wasn't injured, only about £50 of damage to usual bits - my leathers (hein gericke PSX 2 piece suit) and helmet (arai tourX) just had a bit of dust on them but no damage other than that. Well impressed...

Oh, my rst gloves wore through on the left knuckles

Man, that's not bad! I can't believe how much damage mine has (the bike that is... actually the leather too!) for such a low speed spill. Rather annoying! And managing to tap my head too Still, get to choose a different colour I suppose :/
I might try the HG, see if I can get a good fit.

Hein Gericke are doing free trousers with some of their leather jackets at the moment, may be worth a look?

(PS I have no connection with HG apart from shopping there sometimes!)
