Nothing wrong with the PR2's, I would go for some Avon Storms if you are a keen commuter and thrasher as they are excellent in the wet or dry.
This thread is going to start another which tyre is best debate, the best thing to do is have a different set every time you change tyres as this way you will find the tyre that suits your riding. A good sports touring tyre is the way to go on an SV650, they match the capabilities of the bike perfectly. We all have a different riding styles, we all ride for different reasons (pleasure, commute,...), we all have our different needs from a tyre and no one tyre in the world will satisfy everybody. |

Got the on offer tyres from Busters the Michelin Pilots which were £113. The rear seems fine but not much more grip than the standards. Reading Bike from a few months ago where they tested some BMW bike and they recommened the BT021's for it and i've phoned around and it seems to be the best tyres around. £220 for a new set fitted though is a touch more than £130 so it's on money vs. quality.

I have found that Avon Storms performed the best on the SV. Masses of grip in the dry and unbelievable amounts of grip in the wet. By far the best tyre I have ever ridden.

Like they said in the latest Ride ( I think it was Ride) the sports touring rubber is MORE than upto the job of VERY fast road riding! Plus they last a fair while. My PR2's have done 7K miles on the Falco and they are both still very good! Ive got to the edge of the tyre and I have never had an issue at all.
IMO and Modern sports touring rubber is going to be more than enough for anything but the most extreme track day'er. ![]() |
