Default Got any tips for replacing the rear wheel?

Hi,

Since I've had the SV, I've removed and replaced the rear wheel maybe a dozen times. Each time it seems more difficult. How do others go about it? How do you ensure that the spacers etc stay in place while you are supporting the wheel and manouvering the spindle thru the swingarm and wheel?

Grease can act as a temporary glue for this trick, works for me everytime.
Remember to wipe away excess or it will flick up averywhere.

Spindle in from brake side just enough to hold the brake caliper in place. then thats one thing you dont have to hold on to.

Give the spindle a proper clean with de greaser and re apply lightly with grease. clean out all spacers and bearings of old grease and re grease aswell including the caliper mounting plate. the spindle should just push in with a couple of fingers and not need to be battered in with a hammer.

Also a couple of bits of gaffa tape over the chain adjusters helps hold them in place aswell.

Takes me about 90 secs to go from wheell in and bolted in tigh to new wheel in and done up properly on my bike due to practice and the above tricks
