Default Classic Car Insurance - Where From?

I have a classic car in a mates workshop, but soon to be put back in my home garage. Currently its not insured and I have no intention of driving it at all. This car is just an investment and I need to protect that with some insurance. I called two companies and both would not cover what I was asking. I dont need a full road policy just a fire and theft policy cos I will never crash it as I will never drive it. Should I maybe advise the home contents or will they load my policy heavily?

Anybody have an idea where I should call next? Cheers

I've got my MG insured through the AA - though the policy is with Towergate, Hall & Clarke. If you go to the AA website there is a link for Classic Car Policies.
Put in all your details etc to get a quote.

With regard to the insured sum, if it's over 1k they require photos to be sent to then give you an agreed valuation. As for not being used on teh road, I think there is an option for it to be a 'Laid Up' policy, which is for garaged cars or those only being used for show purposes (eg; being trailered to events etc).

Try Adrian Flux, they specialise in specialist car policies.

Lancaster Insurance are quite poplar, and they do laid up policies.

Providing the vehicle is kept in a locked garage comprising part of the house premises as in my case I have £3500 cover for my bike if on SORN at no extra cost to my household insurance
My insurance is with Barclays Bank
In general this is the cheapest way to insure items as I have several specified items on my household insurance i.e. watches in excess of £2000

Is classic car insurance that prohibitively expensive then? I thought it was meant to be cheap. In which case why not just get the full insurance and not drive it?
