Default People overtaking in 20-30's... URG!

Was travelling through a little village with VERY narrow lanes, the kind where cars fill them with a 20mph limit... Tootling along behind a couple of cars with no space to overtake. "Wom" (the sound an IL4 makes "Boom is a V2 ) a gixxer (in sunday best) comes past at 40 slams on the anchors and gets stuck behind the same cars... Then 3 more do. Good effort guys.

I dont agree with speeding in towns and villages its just wrong, and probably worst of all it gives people more reason to dislike bikers.

To add insult

We get it to the 60 zone off we go overtake the car, we only get to about 80 which is cool as I think anymore and you are asking for trouble if anyone is about. Then come the corners. ARG! HOW SLOW? The fat chuff in front of me that makes his gixxer look like a monkeybike is slower than captain slow walking (slight exageration) around them. Infact its so bad im having to brake comming out of corners . Great when they get to the streight bits, they have no trouble going in a streight line... Still not going over the top but at a resonable pace.

Basically I think there are some real nobs on the road, this was a fine example... Dont do it in my opinion, just because someone sticks to the 20-30 limits dont mean they are a slow rider.

Take care, rant over.

Ahh the fun of hunting down weekend warriors on an 'inferior' bike. Used to love doing it on my SV and now prove that the VFR is not an 'old man's bike'

Stay clear of these knobs.

I see nothing wrong in overtaking in 30s, I do it and I don't think it's dangerous. To be used with discretion, for sure, but if it's obviously safe, why not?

this weekend warrior understands there are reasons for limits and obeys them in villages etc. Outside of them it is my choice as to whether or not to obey an arbitrary speed sign.

Yea on occation I do, but only if they arnt doing 30 in the 30 zone... But 99% of the time there is no point. If I saw a biker doing 20 in a 20 zone and they were obviously stuck behind the car (and it was obvious why I was, they overtook on my side of the road) then why do it?

not if I'm doing 30. Like the Gr33k, I stick to speed limits in towns and villages and find those who speed past me in those limits irritating to say the least. For instance last sunday after the rafting I (we - was two up) caught this guy in a VFR easily but did not overtake as there was no safe opportunity. come to a village with 30 limit, I slow down but he keeps going at his 'standard 55 mph everywhere' - what a cnut! After we cleared the 30 limit we caught him in about 3 minutes and dispensed with him.

Shows a complete lack of thought about your riding and awareness of your bikes ability to cover ground, that there is no point in speeding through towns and villages.

EDIT re-read that and the last comment is not directed at you Ed, or anyone in particular (except maybe the VFR rider).

No it doesn't show a lack of thought. If the road is obviously clear - no schools hospitals old folks homes catteries etc - then why not? Sometimes the 30 goes on way too long...
