Default A night away - where?

Well for the first time in about 18 months we have the opportunity to have a couple of nights together without the kids. Mrs H says she is happy to stay at home, but I've fallen into that trap before.....

Any ideas of somewhere really quiet for walks etc. not too expensive and not too far from Dartford?

We are only able to leave at 5pm on the Friday and would have to be back Sunday lunch.

Money is a bit tight, but we don't get the chance that often......with hills would be good.

Kev, bit of a past time of mine hillwalking. Recently did a walk from Rochester Castle to Leeds Castle along the North Downs Way its quite a trek for one day though if you are not used to it. The section we did is here http://northdownsway.co.uk/ if you scroll down to Cuxton to Boxley (10 miles) we then continued on to Hollingbourne which is right near Leeds Castle. Our walk was more like 20/22 miles all up.
Its more uphill this way so if you prefer a more downhill walk then do it the other way around.
The two images are along the ridge near Detling offering great views towards Maidstone.

A bit further away is the Hassocks near Brighton in particular the Ditchling Beacon being one of the highest points in our region. Superb views inland and out to sea. Details of a short circular here http://www.go4awalk.com/thpaco/1006car/es145ca.pdf

Have fun.

marriage guidance?plenty of ups and downs there if you want to explore.
Just kidding. Get out on the bike, head up to Suffolk walk the beaches take a flyer on a b&b and have some fun together. Planning kills relationships. IMO

KRH,

Why not look at a guesthouse/B&B around the Canterbury area. Plenty of lovely converted oast houses around. You're also near to Whitstable/Margate/Ramsgate then for some lovely seafood. It could make a really nice break and you'll still be in Kent...no more than 90min from Dartford.

I went to Greenwich park last week (not Dartford I know, but we were travelling from Sidcup). Beautiful place, and the Observatory and Queens House was free

Bummer! My gf saw the laser-art display which is a laser shining along the meridian line; and she asked 'is that to stop burglars?'

Laser looks great in fine drizzle as it twinkles!
