It's just a bit of a scabby cut, tried to file it down as good as poss, the packing was screwed before i got to it so its not too clever.

Can I get it put on a dyno to check for rich or lean-ness?

proberly lean however if you have a nice stretch of roasd near by you could try a plug chop not 100% accurate but gives good indication thats how i set my dynojet kit up and all i needed was to lift needle one clip

Plug chop, is that where you pin the throttle to full and then hit the kill switch?

If you can smell petrol out the exhaust, it's running rich. If not, it's not.

Considering what you have just done to the can, I would not be suprised if what you can smell is the burning of all the loose packing which you would have disturbed.

Do you get an 'smoke' at all coming from the exhaust when revving the engine? If it has a faint brown hew, it's an idication the bike 'could' be running lean. But you would have had that before the exhaust was chopped as well. It's not very likely a stubbied can will make the bike run lean. This is down to fuel/air mixture ratio.
