Here's the background:
Yesterday, rode from my house in Gloucester to head to my uni house in Portsmouth, about 130 odd miles. Bike was perfect the whole trip, never skipped a beat. Get home, park the bike up and turn it off. Wake up this morning, get my gear on to head out to lectures. Disarmed the alarm, got on, put the key in and turned the bike on. Flicked the kill switch to off, but I didn't get the usual 'eeeeee' noise that accompanies it. Tried starting it the usual way by pulling in the clutch and hitting the starter switch but I get nothing! Something similar has happened like this before, so I take the seat cowl off and have a look at the fuses, they all seem to be fine, but even so, I have some spare ones. So I take them out individually, replace them and then check to see if the bike starts - still nothing. By this time I realise i'm going to be late for lectures so grab a lift in a housemates car. Got back, think it might be the battery (even though the lights etc work fine). So I put it on charge for a couple of hours, then whack it back in the bike. Exactly the same, nothing happens when I try to start the bike. Thats been my day so far ![]() Any ideas? Its a K4 pointy. Thanks in advance ![]() |

You know what, I might be the most stupid person in the world
![]() Thinking back, I might have turned my bike off while I was in gear before backing it in between two cars ![]() My god, why didn't I think of that before.... (Be right back, checking to see if its in gear!) |

Well, that was embarrassing!
Turns out, the sodding thing was in gear, hence no start up ![]() Eh well, thanks for your help Stu ![]() Btw, is there any reason why its better to turn the bike off through the key rather than the kill switch? It's just I've always been told to flick the switch to turn it off, never really questioned it :S |

Oops
![]() Suzuki build quality? Use it too often and you might break it. |

There's a few things to check if it doesn't start, an unusual one is the clutch switch falling off. But if you don't get the eeeeeeee sound then there's no point trying anything else until you get that. You would have got a 'chec' in the digital display as well if it was in gear with the side stand down. |
