Hey guys
I’m really sorry if this has already been asked (and if it is could you please direct me to that post). I have a 07 650sport and the battery constantly dies on it, like if I leave it in the garage for longer than a couple of days. This all started when I left the lights on overnight. I think it just needs a proper full charge however now it is completely dead and I can’t even bump start it. Can anybody tell me if there is anything I need to know when going to buy a battery charger as Halfords have 2 different types a 2-4amp and a 1.25amp one? Anybody help? Thanks in advance Chris |

hi dude
![]() You need to find out why the battern is draining first. Have you got an alarm or anything else fitted to the bike? Okay so if you haven't then you need to test the charging circuit ect. But your bike is newer than mine, so it should still e warranty. Wasw it a privare sale? Any how, take to any suuki delarship as it could a be warranty job. however have you checked everything with a metere as well? I use an optimate charger for my bikes. |

it’s just out of its year warranty yes it has an alarm but was fitted by a dealer, I’m assuming this is killing the battery but because its not had anywhere near a full charge since I drained it accidently

you need to identify the cause of the flat battery. Do you ride the bike regularly or does it spend lots of time being stood and not ridden, has it got an alarm on it thats draining the battery over time ?
If you ride it regularly and the battery still goes flat then it might be that its not charing properly. Search for threads on Regulator / Rectifier failing, its quite common for it to go and the battery to not charge. But you really need to check the charging cicuit with a multi-meter. It could also be that your battery has just reached the end of its life. Its not un heard of for the sealed GEL batteries to not recover from being drained totally flat... Personally I'd be looking at investing in an Optimate, that you can leave conncected to the bike when you're not using it and it keeps the battery topped up. Also Optimate claim that it will recover a completely flat battery. I managed to use it to get one battery to come back to life, but the one in my GSXR was fubared after being sat all winter with the bike not being used and it wouldnt take a charge, let alone hold one.

Ive just bought a Oxford Maximiser 360T conditioner, 30 odd quid new on ebay, they are known to revive dodgy battries and can be left connected for months or years...so it says in the instructions, might beb the way to go..

Yep that might be the problem. Alarms always draw a little current and will eventually flatten a battery if left long enough.

Personally in your situation I'd still plump for the optimate or something similar as it does the charging bit and also the maintaining bit if you want it to.
Heres a link if you want more info http://www.optimate-chargers.co.uk/?...FQs4QgodOAUB1Q

Optimate is your best mate.Everyone should have one.Batterys dont like being run totally flat, and they dont like being left in a discharged state either,so you probably need a new one.On the other hand if looked after and kept nicely charged they last many years.
