Default DIY painting

Hi Guys,

Been looking for a blue r/h fairing for my 99 curvy for quite a while but no luck, so just got a good condition red one.
A bit skint right now so gonna try painting it in the shed with aerosols.
There are a few helpul threads on this but what i can't find is how to find the right paint?
Are there specific SV blue paints readily available?
Or can aerosols be made from the paint code?
By the way, how do i find the paint code on my bike?

Help appreciated

I have a '99 curvy and mine is grand candy blue. I even phoned the dealer and checked first and they said it was Cand Jay Blue, I then bought a mint fairing of ebay and it was the wrong colour so beware. I had to sell it and get one in candy grand blue.

I'd say from your pic yours also looks to be candy grand but I could be wrong.

Halfords can also mix the paint for you.

Thanks for that.
Is the paint code marked anywhere on the bike?

halfords will mix the paint but they only do cellulose, go to a paint supplier and get a 2k paint.

a) the paint is much stronger and hard wearing.

b) better shine and last.

the colour of the 99 curvy is candy grand blue, i resprayed a panel on my bike and when we got it matched it was candy grand blue not jay blue as earlier stated.

candy paint requires a silver base.

the code is yc2 if i remember rightly. when you get your paint mixed halfords will mix it into a tin this is the standard shade, you will need to take a panel to a paint supplier where they will match it to the exact shade of your bike, this is because the shade of paint changes ever so slightly between months years etc. my car for example has like 10 shades

The code should be on a sticker under the tank IIRC. YC2 for candy grand and Y7E for the Jay Blue I think.
