Default Clip-on position

Wotcher all

I saw this on the net;

http://www.onthethrottle.tv/pages/pa...and_08/151_688

The first half shows the clip-ons being adjusted forwards to help with countersteering.

Sounds good but would this be possible on an sv (I have the k2 curvy) or is it only a select few bikes this can be done on?

Cheers all

There is a slight bit of play like it shows on the video, not huge though.

You counter steer naturally without knowing it, its when people start to get cocky a think about counter steering that they go down the road....

You can deliberately countersteer without falling off. You shouldn't need to think about it though, or need to move clipons.

I guess if they're angled out squarer it's easier to pull hard on the bar when changing direction quickly at high speed, of course I could be wrong. I really can't see it making much difference, though.

If you want leverage ... go for some wideboy race clip-ons

The further the bars are from the bike the less effort it takes to counter steer.

When I swapped my handlebars for clip-ons, I nearly went straight on at the first corner.

Cheers for the replies all

There was a few reasons I was looking into it - leverage is one but I was thinking it might also help with body positioning on the bike. I keep trying to keep my arms relaxed but often end up bolt upright with my arms straight. Maybe it'd help me keep my arms bent a bit more.

Also it'd help me move my brake lever further downwards, currently the hose goes backwards from the master cylinder banjo and goes against the fork preventing further movement - moving the bar forwards should create some more room instead of me slackening the banjo and then re-bleeding the whole system - well until I get this brake overhaul done anyway...
