Default Why Mr Honda has got it wrong

SO youve gone n bought that icon of the road - V4 VFR ...but why does it sound quieter than a sewing machine in a boiler room...?

The daftness of the Honda policy of super muffling all their bikes was brought home to me when i took Zigs (take a bow sir !)new Hornet for a spin...i trundle out on to Sahftesbury Ave...10 yards on im approaching Wardour St on the right, when blimey, the ricksahw cycle thing starts to pull across me..WTF ??? i fumble for unfamilair brake lever and just stop in time, the geezer did nt HEAR me did he, that sort of thing never happens to me on my loud ZX6, and i Know you sv bods with a loud can never get it either...

You cant legislate for the senses people use habitually , and these new bikes are dangerous.

My worry is for the future, the eco bikes to come are gonna be almost silent, and i bet the number of accidents goes up two - fold....

Yep +1

Even the SV is quite quiet up town, pedestrians almost begin to step out, revving does help but a nice loud can is the best option

No it doesn't. I had a Viffer for a month and I thought it sounded ace.....even with the standard cans.

Also, look at the market that the Viffer is aimed (generally) at... more relaxed than a sportsbike, but not quite a BMW yet

Anyway, a VFR with Race cans on sounds amazing

Not really Honda's fault, it's the noise laws. Same thing with all standard bikes, even the SV is dead quiet at tickover as standard.

My VFR750 otoh is quite loud and 100% legal but then the noise laws weren't as strict when it was released.

But both these bikes with a standard can on are quiet. You mention loud ZX6 and 'loud cans'. It's got nothing to do with Honda, it's to do with the noise regulations. You wanna hear Hovis' 'Blade, sounds like a doodlebug!

Oi! Stop having a pop (haha) at Honda. My SV was quiet when I got it. Besides, it's the law nowadays and nothing that a haxsaw and race can can't sort.

In short, stop bloody moaning.
