Default Mystical Electrics.

Now I'm not the most stupid persion in the world and as you can imagine I'm not normally troubled by the wonder that is electrics, but I'm having trouble. I can figure out if the ignition has a switched earth, and what wires they are to bypass this.

Why you might ask? Well cus I'm putting in a remote ignition and I need to bypass this else it won't work. I know its a security feature, but this is my fun bike and I will be using the security of a big stick. Plus the remote kill switch...

So can anyone point me in the right direction?

According to the wiring diagram, the SV doesn't have a switched earth. It jumps straight into the light earth (right headlight) - Black/White wire.

The red wire, and the orange one come from the fuse box (4 & 5 respectively). The red feeds the dash display, the orange feeds the light switch.

The Orange/Red wire goes from ignition barrel to "Ignitor."

The Grey is an earth wire for the dash lights, and light switch.

The Brown is positive to side lights/numberplate light/brake light.

If you want to fake the ignition key, you're going to have to fake pretty much all of that (unless you don't want lights/dash display etc).

HTH.

Well thats a little confusing then, as I've been told it does... Might be why I spend ages looking at the wirering myself and not finding it. So now all I need to know it why the hell it my remote start not working then... Looks like this will need some more studying.

At the moment the pressing of the start button on the remote turns the bike over but something else is stoppin it firing. At the moment the only thing I can think of it that the remote kill through the sidestand switch is killing the starter, though would this allow the bike to turn over at all. The only other I can think of is to move it from the sidestand switch to the kill switch... More bloody soldering, and I just got it all nice and tidy too.

Sounds to me like it's turning over but not firing.

Sorry about granny-eggs situation, but I'd be taking a plug out to test if it sparks on remote start. If it does, then look at why you're not getting fuel delivered ready for the spark.

Looks like that earth you mentioned is a common earth with something else earthing through it, something you've missed! So if you bypass it then that something else will fail!

Did you refill the wires with smoke after the AR?
