Help!
I have an Orange account that has worked fine since the freeserve/wanadoo days and, amazingly, with orange but its hit the skids. I cannot get Windows Mail to pull in any e-mail traffic not even for Viagra! For some reason it Finds Host, Authorises, Connects, Disconnects with no new messages. All e-mails are avaiable through Orange web mail (which is labourious at best) but will not come on in! No settings have been changed just died after 30th November. Does anybody know why? Would be really grateful as I need it for work. nb650 |

Are you able to send mail and just not receive?
What smtp server are you trying to use? Orange is notorious for this. |

Receiving seems to be the issue - I have just sent a one and it went!
These are the incoming / outgoing thingys - pop.wanadoo.co.uk & smtp.wanadoo.co.uk . I tried recreating the account through newer pop/smtp things i.e orangehome with the same e-mail address but no joy. Typically Orange have e-mailing problems on the H&S page but all the crucial links are dead! Poo! nb650 |

I have in the past seen similar when a customer was trying to pull a large mail file from a POP3 server and it timed out before delivery. At that point he could no longer get any mail.
The answer was to connect to the POP3 server from a command prompt, log in, do a listing, and delete the obvious rogue mail file. then again, you might be to see the problem if your provider has a web mail service

Could try:
smtp = 193.252.22.138 pop = 193.252.22.136 There is loads of info at orangeproblems.co.uk. I used to have the same issue and seem to remember changing the SMTP address sorted it. Having said that changing to sky was the best thing I ever did. Orange are crap! |

Right - not entirely sure but.................
Ran up laptop and logged into dial up account (guessing that it may help as my e-mail address is 10 years old) and it started dragging in e-mails. Tried to receive on pc but was asked to log on which I couldn't do so created a new account with same e-mail, passwords etc and hey! presto! working again. Hope no-one else suffers this but thanks for the help .orgers! nb650 |
