Default graphics

my graphics card decided to pack up in my pc last week. it was an ATI x700.

i liked that graphics card because i had my television connected up to it through an s video cable. this was also great because i had it set to theater mode which meant everytime i opened a video file or dvd etc it would automatically set it onto the television full screen and minimise it on the pc monitor so i could carry on doing what i wanted whilst i was wacthing my movie on the tele through the pc.

i bought a new graphics card from pc world and for some reason it is not recognising the television thats connected through svideo. is there anything i should check and do you think i could returm this because im not happy with it

Stop buying stuff from PC world.

But you will need to go into your display properties to set-up the TV setting if putting in a new card, as it resets it all back to default.

What is it your running on the PC?

I think the opinions about PC World originally came from them pushing their after sales insurance with every product. Then they started selling tat.

Recently, it's been announced they're in financial difficulty, so where you get the idea that they turn over "billions of pounds" or that they're "incredibly successful" I don't know. In fact they announced a £30 million loss in November. Hardly successful that, is it?

I don't think it's uncool, I've used them for blank discs, cables etc but they have proven on many occasions that the PC 'specialists' know feck all and I would not buy components from them as they are expensive.

If they are cheaper then everywhere else then I buy from them, but only simple things like media, or paper. The after-sales is awful, well it was the last time I had to have a debate with a 12 year old about something that was faulty. I managed to persuade them to put it in a PC and funny enough it failed.

I remember taking a mate there to look at laptops, cus he could look at what he wanted. I asked them about hard disk rpm and they looked blankly at me, then it turned out they had nothing that ran faster then 4200rpm.
If your in Portsmouth I will always tell you to go to Novatech, which I think also has shops in Cardiff, and Bristol I think. I'm sure there are people who have had bad experiences with them too, but in the 10 years they have had my custom they have always replaced parts and been helpfull and informative. Even when I had to take a board back with a blow front side bus, they knew what I was yaping about.
