Had a much surprised bonus from work for my hard work over the last 12 months & am wondering about buying a WII, or an X Box. I've noticed that the XBox is quite cheap at the mo, but just dont know if it will be a waste of time & money. What does the mighty .Org think?

If it's for you, go for the X Box. If you have young kids, go for the Wii.

i was thinking of getting one myself recently for xmas, but decided against it as ill get one with a new phone contrct soon.
IMO id go with the xbox over a wii as prefer the classic gaming way. they are advertised as 129.99 but i think your looking more at £179.99 as the 129.99 one is the basic model without much memory at all, and im not entirely sure if you can access the net on the chesper one, im sure someone more in the know will let ya kn ow tho! |

We've got a Wii, but don't think that the choice of games for it are as good as the xbox.
A colleague has got an xbox and plays 'Call of duty' online until the small hours, with loads of people all over the world. I'd say the Wii is geared more for children than adults, although thats just my opinion. If I get some adult themed games, i might change my view.

Defo the XBOX if you plan on getting one.
The probalem is you may become addicted to and fall out with the lady of your house.

xbox = great for intense racing, shooting, strategy and other action based games with amazing graphics and a very well established online system (xboxlive of course). Lots of downloadable content for all the games, new cars in Forza Motorsport, New songs in Guitar hero or rockband.... (there are plenty of family titles for the xbox)...
wii = great for getting everyone involved and having a good time straight away. It's more about physical ability; whether it's handeye co-ordination or how much stamina you have while whipping the remote up and down for 20 seconds (100m sprint on mario sports iirc?)... Very family orientated with a few action titles. The wii will never be able to compete with the amazing graphical capabilities of the xbox, but if you're after a room full of people jumping around laughing and shouting, compared with one or two of you sat with a microsoft controller in your hand, talking into microphones and trying to shoot the annoying 13 year old american on gta 4, the wii it will have to be. One of the best bets: look on play.com at some of the titles you would buy for each console, then look up gameplay footage on youtube. Whichever you prefer the look of, go for it - you won't be disapointed ![]()

I found the novellty of the Wii wore off really quickly, and I don't even own one. MarioKart was brilliant, but Wii Sports, the controller's nowhere near as sensitive as it needs to be.
Xbox 360 all the way my good man! |

Coming from a house that has all XBOX360, wii and PS3 my 2 sense would be thus:
Wii - Good for when you throw a house party or have a few friends round. However the novelty wears off very quickly and you soon realise that you have a console with outdated graphics and a poor choice of games. Simply put, it just isnt much fun playing it my yourself. XBOX360 - Great choice of games, great graphics capability, Good fun whether playing online, with friends or by yourself. PS3 - Same as XBOX360 but with a worse and smaller choice of games. |
