Default Front brake overhaul - how much?

Hi all, and a happy new year.

My front brake is starting to drag (significant resistance when pushing the bike)

I've read the posts about overhauling the brakes, and have a haynes manual, but i'm not the best with a spanner, and dont fancy risking it with the front.

So, what do you reckon it should cost at a garage?
(My local garage is not a main dealer)

cheers

D

D ... Which area are you in ?
may be there might be some one on here local that might give you a hand.

if not then £30 quid i'd guess, but I'm at a loss in this type of thing as I don't go a garage for anything apart from the MOT.

It depends on whether the seals are fubar'd, or if it's just a bit messy. But dealers will tend to replace things even when they could be reused (which is fair enough, I reuse brake seals but if I crash, I'm not going to sue myself) So expect to pay a bit more really. Dragging calipers often means bad dust seals.

Cheers guys.
I'm in Hull, so if anyone close(ish) by and if anyone would be willing to spare their time and help me out, i'm happy to bribe with beer!

Come over to Halifax, £20 to rebuild them if the seals are OK.
