Default Do new batteries require charging prior to first use?

or can I fit and let it charge under its own steam?

check the instructions-but i'd be thinking that they would need a full charge to give it a "full" life

Cheers. Havent bought it yet but needed to check whether I needed to buy a charger too. Guess it will come in handy anyway.

Yes and no.They normally work without a full initial charge,but batteries are just like any other mechanical bit.They work better and last longer if they are properly maintained.A full initial charge sets the battery up for a long life working at its full potential.Just as regular attention from the Optimate keeps it in top order for many years.

We always recommend charging prior to use, but if you use the bike everyday you generally don't need to worry.

Don't forget to let the battery stand after filling with acid before sealing. very important.

yeah get a clever trickle charger sort though not a cheap frazzle plug socket one. Bikeit do a good'n - I have an oxford maximiser (or optimiser I forget).

I should be reported to the Battery Protection Society for the neglect I have shown to mine recently. Shameful really
