Folks,
I asked this in the middle of another thread which probably wasn't the smartest move. Did try a search on here to no avail......anybody help? Sort of on topic (well almost) does anyone know if the front end on the 1000 is as easily changed as the 650. I've got a complete spare GSXR600 K4 front end sitting in the garage from when I did my 650 conversion and knowing what a difference it made to the 650 I was playing with the idea of getting a 1000 and doing that as well..... (and no, there is no way I'm going to sell the 650!) Cheers. |

I think the 750 and 600 front ends are the same!

Why not the 600?
I think head bearings should be same as GSXR so that should drop straight in. I have no idea about length required to clear the rad etc etc.

The 2002 GSXR1000 forks are different to the K4 600 which is what I've got. Are the head bearing/headstock the same on the SV 1000 and 650? I'm guessing not in which case my spare front end is no use for this project.

I'm doing a zx636r front end swap on my sv1k... so did a steering stem swap into the zxr bottom triple, ok did have a basic bespoke top yoke made. May not be able to run the sv front wheel in the k4 forks but I could be wrong. check out more info on sv-portal.com for more fork swap info for th sv1k

all gsxr fronts will drop right in to sv1000.
they all use same bearings for stem. you will have usual steering stops issues. |

That's encouraging, so the head bearings on GSXR's are the same as both SV 650's and 1000's? Front wheel isn't a problem, like I said I've got the complete front end, yokes, forks, brakes, wheel and mudguard.

Yes it is easily changed, just like the Pointy SV650 is as the bearings are the same. It too is a common modification for SV1000's, as with the SV650 swap you main aim is to find a set of yokes which have the same lock stops and ignition barrel position.
Off the top of my head the GSXR yokes from 2000-2004 should all align up. |
