Default How to Balance Carbs

Right I don't have a scoobie about carbs. What do I need to balance them? How do I balance them?

It's a tzr250 with race carbs and one of them is just constantly leaking out the rubber tube.

I've never done it before. Would it be simpler to just get someone who knows what they are doing to do it?

If its leaking then your not going to get them balanced. Fix the leak then think about balancing.

You'll need a set of carb tuners. There are various different makes out there.

I was told it's leaking because it needs balanced

It's leaking because the float height is set wrong or the main float valve is unseated by a bit of dirt. Strip the carbs, clean them thoroughly and rebuild them by the book paying particular attention to the flat heights. Then balance them by hand. You don't use carb balancing gear on 2-stroke twins.

What you do is ensure that both throttle slides move in synch and that when at full throttle they are both in the same position. There's lots on the web about how to do it properly, but I don't have specific experience of doing TZRs.

Btw, they need 'balancing' or 'need to be balanced'

New one on me, you can balance carbs whether they're CV or slides, you just use different adjustments

Carb cleaner after you have removed all plastic or rubber. Or soak them in normal petrol for as long as you want to soften stuff up.
