Thats not rust, that is the color of the back of the pads. Most are that color.

You mean that big bright Orange thing ? Thats the Backing Plate where the Compound is bonded to your pads .

All I can see is the back of the brake pads, and that is its normal colour of EBC HH sintered pads...

Surprised it was still Orange , that stuff usually flakes away after a while due to the stresses and strains of being a Brake pad . When they are new (as in the Picture that Dangerous Dave provided) they are a Coppery colour . Took me a while to realise what you were on about , I was looking at your calipers and thinking "Damn , wished mine were that clean" , then it dawned on me what you were on about , easy mistake to make dude
