Default Confidence

I have had my SV for 4 years, all of which it has remeained vertical!
Before christmas i fell off in the ice... it was mainly cosmetic damage with a few niggly mechanicals, notably a dragging front brake.
I continued to ride it, but i had absolutely no confidence... the front end felt 'fiddly' and i was frozen solid worrying i would fall off again!

I seriously thought about selling up and buying a car... but insurance quotes put me off.

The front brake was worrying me, so i stripped the calipers and regreased, with all new fluid. I have to say i am AMAZED how much better the brake is! It is unbeleivable what a caliper service can do, it is so much more responsive and i recommend doing this for anybody who hasn't in 2 years.

I just went out and bought a new helmet, my old Shark one was a bit tatty, so i thought it would give me some more confidence. Fairly happy with my AGV Airtech.

Just been out for a ride and i am well and truly back in the game! The 'fiddly' front end may have been the dragging brake... but the bike feels great again and now i looking forward to a bit better weather.

I can ride everyday with confidence like i used to!

moral - a drop of the bike seems to do a lot more mental damage than mechanical. Also, when the service guide says 'fluid every 2 years' you should probably listen, because my brake was NOWHERE NEAR as good as it should have been.

Had 1 or 2 accidents myself over many years of biking, noticably 1 resulting in a broken neck at high speed(my fault)which almost resulted in a fatality.
If it's in your blood to ride then you do/will get back on asap.

Well done to you mate & hope you have many years of safe riding.

Regards Robo.
