As long as it is bike specifc oil rather than car oil, then yep you have IMHO bought the right oil. I ran my SV on Halfords stuff and I topped the GSXR up with some when it needed a drop.

Theres a stick thread at the top of his section by Sid Squid that'll give more info on selecting what oil you want, might be worth a read.

Excellent advice part 1: Ensure the sump plug has been replaced and is tightened fully. If you do not do this, your improvised oil drain pan will fill with good oil and you'll wonder why you've put over 2 litres in without anything showing in the sight glass This is what I did on Saturday, just as well I'd stocked up on Hein Gericke 4l for £13.99! Good advice part 2: Wrap a towel or similar around the front downpipe so you do not burn your forearms whilst wrestling with the filter. This is what I did on Saturday. Just as well I'd stocked up on ointment. I'm an idiot. Good advice part 3: Take the opportunity to adjust the Throttle Position Sensor (search for TPS mod), but buy some M5 bolts or screws first, as mine were made from Suzuki cheese. This I did on Saturday, and is the best single thing I've done so far. Best of luck to you! Don't make my mistakes!

I did my oil change earlier today, took the belly pan off and used an oil filter wrench which took my old filter off with no problem. Drained the oil out from the sump and the filter .......... giving it a good while to drip out. New filter on hand tight and sump plug in. Using a funnel i slowly poured in the oil occasionally checking the glass until it began to appear giving it time between each fill to settle. Once finished ran the engine for 5 mins then checked oil again so seems fine. Next weekend spark plugs. Using my guide ill check all i need for my 8k mile service next weekend, cant bring myself to pay a dealer to do my 8k service.

did the spark plugs today and took under an hour, the manual tells to swing the radiator up to access the plug however without taking off the front fairing this would not happen so i just undid it and dropped it completely down disconnecting the horn so as to very easily access the plug without any damage to the radiator. So thats me now done the oil, filter, plugs for under 40 bucks checked the fuel lines, brake lines chassis bolts were tight, air cleaner was spotless so left it for now but think i will buy a k&n if they are worth it?
