100ml

the 2006 rules still apply and its only valid for carry on luggage. You can put any volume you like in your suitcase.

They will confiscate it as well, as me and my mate found out as we were boarding an Easyjet flight in Vienna yesterday.

Medicines can exceed 100ml but must be accompanied by a doctors letter and be in original packaging.

Things like bottles of water can be purchased once you are through security.

The whole thing is utterly meaningless in any practical sense. It's what's referred to as "Security Theatre"; as the name suggests, it's all about creating the impression of security. I recently read an interesting article from one of the leaders of the security industry (who normally hates stuff like this) who said that it was in some ways a good thing. The public are not rational and although you're still much more likely to die on the way to the airport, they got jittery post 9/11 and weren't flying as much. Security Theatre like this puts their little minds at ease and hence they're more inclined to fly, which is good for the economy, etc.

Personally, I'd prefer it if the public grew up a bit and learnt how to assess risk more accurately, so we wouldn't have this sort of farce, but I'm a realist and that's not going to happen.

Most people go through this once or twice in a year, I'm due for my second go this week tonight, I stay on the aircraft at the other end so avoiding 2 or more in a day. They are just as daft with us as they are with the passengers and each airport can add things to the basic DFT regulations; which turns the whole thing into a guessing game.

Suggest you read THIS. If true, which we don't know yet, the liquids would have been brought through the security checks since, if I recall correctly, the Duty Free shop doesn't sell explosive materials.
