I've heard that to free corroded bolts, coca cola is supposed to good. Also that scrunched up tin foil and cola is good for cleaning chrome!
Don't know if that helps?

oxalic acid, its in some cleaning products like barkeepers friend.

used on its own in solution you can soak parts in it and they will lose their rust.

Ive used it to get badly rusting parts looking like new. unfortunately i dont have any pictures.

check this out: http://www.cookhaus.co.uk/vinegar/index.htm

I bought some old rusty axle stands at rufforth autojumble for a fiver... left them in vinegar overnight last night, so when I get in... it's the moment of truth

not yet, but there are two stands being de-rusted with room for only one of them to go in the vinegar, so I'll have a rusty one and a (hopefully) nice clean smelly vinegar one to put next to each other

I have a really hard time believing those pictures ... rusty corroded shafts miraculously converted to as new steel by rubbing with some vinegar ... nah, I don't believe that .... that's a need to try experiment if ever I saw one.

Spokey
