This probably will have been done to death but I've got a bit of a twist.
The bike is lovely in the corners (as far as I know, I'm pretty new to it all) but have been able to get it leaned over pretty far and don't really have problems with it wanting to sit up. Problem is though it bucks quite a lot and is quite stiff, not sure I'd want it too soft though! When I go over bumps that are a bit sharp there's often an almighty crack from the front forks which I'm guessing is the preload needing adjusting? I'm 6'1" and probably about 13.5 stone with kit on. Are there any proven settings or is it best to take it to a 'racing' garage. |

1. Changing the preload doesn't make the suspension harder or softer - the only way to do that is change the springs.
2. There's no such thing as 'right', whatever suits you is right. 3. The suspension of the SV has only preload adjustment - this should be set to suit your typical load, ie. you in your typical riding attire. Search for 'static sag' unsurprisingly this has been covered many times ![]()

Is it more like 'Clunk'? I have it in mine and got me worried a bit. It happens rough roads, sounds like suspension is bottoming out, but it's not.
I was able to hear this clunkiness while pushing down my forks with 1st gear in, no brakes. Is this normal? One of the forks is leaking a bit of oil, maybe it can be the cause? |
