Default phone tariff changes

im with T mobile on a monthly contract and they are rubbish. never get signal, conversations randomly end, can make calls just get a beep instead. its not the phone as ive tried a few, but whenever i call t mobile i get told theres nothing wrong. they have tried sending different sim cards but thats dont nothing.

ive wanted to get rid of them but i cant due to the contract, i think ive got 5 months left. i could buy my way out at £35/month but thats mega expensive. i did think i could change to a £15/month tariff then buy my way out a month later, but T mobile is apparently the only company that wont let you change to a lower tariff if youre using all your minutes!

So, today i got a text telling me they are upping their rate from 20p to 40p a minute to 08 numbers. since i end up calling various other useless companies each month trying to sort out their **** ups this is gonna cost me.

Is this a possible way out of my contract, as they are changing my product without choice?

(sorry for the long post)

might be worth having a look at the watchdog website JR, they covered a similar story last night, not exactly the same, but people having to pay for their 18 month contract when they cant even use the phone as no signal in their area...might be worth a look?

thats bloody pants tho dude

3 months left, go to Phones 4 u. They will give you cash in ya hand to pay it off, and get a new contract.

thanks guys, i will have a look at phones for you, but usually the buy out deals have bad tariffs.

ideally though i would like to just get rid of T mobile so i can have the flexability of who to go with next time.

Not really. It could work, but you'd have to chase it a long long way.

My wife and I were with T mobile - i still am and 5 months on my contract as well. I agree with you on all aspects of their service - signal etc.

My wife is now with Orange I think and she sorted that through Carphone Warehouse. They also do deals - i was offered a decent phone, WII and something else if i went through them. All i had to do was cancel my T mobile contract. I am considering it as it means I get a WII cheaper than paying for one in the shops.
