Default **** over tit

went I on the way home tonight. walking home with the wife and friends I spot 3 chavy types in the entrance to an industrial estate we are passing
as I walk past, my ankle turns over and I roll in the floor

god damm pot hole. two of the chavy type run out to help me. and block the road until I am able to move.

My ankle hurts, sprained but not bust. Good job as daughter is on nights at A&E. I could not stand being a patient under those conditions.

So do I contact a solicitor, 7 witnesses, ankle and pride hurt. will council accept a 2" deep hole is sufficient to bail me over.

joking aside. I rolled am not hurt, beyond the sprain and pride as the wife and friends had a damm good giggle. But if it was my mother or some other elderly individual, this hole at the edge of the road could have inflicted a nasty injury.

So email in the morning to the local council, but I bet they will do sod all

Duty of care. They daren't risk not doing anything after the initial report, as then they become liable.

Oh, and ask the wife if they have any pics/video.

Tell the council that if it isn't fixed in the next fortnight then you're straight ringing up "wheretheresblamenowinnofeeambulancechasersRus 4u" or whoever.

Oh yeah and Ha Ha!

Visit the doctor quickly, as compensation can set in.

When you email the council, write that you will also be sending a letter in writing and saving the email for reference. That way they will know that you will be able to prove that they had knowledge of the pot hole should they do nothing and someone else get hurt.

Don't send anything until you have spoken to someone there. Call the council the next day the offices are open. Could be tomorrow morning, might not be til Tuesday. Ask what department deals with this type of report and get a name. Make sure you have the name of a member of staff there to address your email/letter to. That way, you make one person responsible and they will no that if they do nothing, you will be quoting their name if and when you have to take it further.....so.....

Use a sentence like:-

I would appreciate a response in writing within 14 days of the date of this communication, detailing the action being taken to repair the pedestrian surface on ????? Road. Failure to repair the surface to a standard that is safe for purpose will leave me in no doubt that you do not take the safety of the public seriously and I will be forced to take this matter further.

Yours blah blah blah.....

That should do the trick and if it doesn't and someone gets hurt, the recipient will be in a whole heap of ****.

I'd say if you had witnesses you should be able to claim something back, or at the very least have them grovelling and fill the hole in. After all, you pay your taxes!

Finally some nice chavs.. wish they'd come over round here I tell you..

At least it shows that you cant always judge someone because they're wearing a tracksuit. Regardless of the hole in the road its nice to hear of people helping each other.
